Are eToro’s Fees High? A Quick Review

When choosing a trading or investing platform, it’s really important to know what the fees are so you know your money isn’t getting drained unexpectedly.

If you’re wondering about eToro’s fees though, we got you covered.

Stocks and ETFs investing fees 📈

When investing in your favorite stocks like $AAPL, $AMZN, $TSLA, or your favorite ETFs like $VTI, $VOO, or $SPY, as long as you’re not using leverage, you’re paying zero fees, besides the inactivity fee. You pay an inactivity fee of $10 a month if you haven’t logged in to your eToro account for 12 months.

How do you circumvent this inactivity fee? Easy. Just log in once every 12 months!

Deposit fees 💳

eToro doesn’t have a deposit fee unless you’re going to deposit a currency that isn’t the USD. If you’re going to deposit a different currency, there will be a small fee for the conversion.

Withdrawal fees 💰

Withdrawal fees on eToro used to be around $25 per withdrawal. But fortunately, eToro has then decreased this down to $5 per withdrawal.

Bitcoin and cryptocurrency investing fees ✨

For investing in bitcoin and your favorite cryptocurrencies, you’re going to have to pay some spread fees that vary depending on what cryptocurrency you’re buying. Currently the lowest with bitcoin having only .75%, and the highest is Tezos having 5%.

What’s a spread fee?

A spread fee is a very small difference in the buy and sell prices compared to the actual market price.

For example:

Let’s say bitcoin’s current price is $10,000 for example. When you buy .1 BTC on eToro(though you can buy smaller fractions of a bitcoin on eToro), since bitcoin’s spread fee on eToro is only 0.75%, you’re going to pay a fee of $7.5.

There aren’t overnight fees though, so you don’t have to worry about that.

Leverage trading fees

Here is where the fees come in. If you’re a day trader and like to use leverage, you’re going to have to pay fees. To see the full fees list, head on over here.

Final thoughts

In summary, if you’re going to invest on eToro’s platform, you’re going to pay zero fees on stocks and ETFs, and small fees when investing in bitcoin.

On the other hand, when you’re going to trade on leverage, you’re going to pay some fees. If this sets you off, unfortunately, take note that there isn’t a single existing platform that doesn’t have fees on leverage trading.
